John Ford Point, Monument Valley

36” x 72” Spray Paint on Panel with Resin

One of the most famed vistas in Monument Valley is John Ford's Point. Best recognized from Ford's iconic western film Stage Coach, the location has since been used hundreds of times for motion pictures and television commercials. During the mid-1900s Oscar-winning director John Ford used this location for many of the 12 motion pictures that he filmed in Monument Valley. It was this location that helped establish the image of "the American west" in the minds of the rest of the world. The point, located between multiple rock formations, on a promontory at the top of a very high cliff, serves as a stage overlooking the vast expanse of desert, highway and sky and provides a breathtaking view of the desert, sandstone buttes and mesas and other stunning rock formations.
